"There's a bathroom on the right"

We all have or have heard all about misidentified song lyrics. The topic comes to mind thinking of brother Robert and his years-ago-when-we-were-kids mistaking of "There's no need to be coy, Roy" from Paul Simon's "Fifty Ways to Leave Your Lover" for "There's no need to be corduroy", which makes me giggle to this day.

I, along with just about everyone else I think, thought the Blinded By the Light chick was wrapped up like a douche. I thought Kurt Cobain was singing, "Hey, Wayne, I got a new complaint" in Heart Shaped Box. Elton John: "And he shall believe on, and he shall be a good man."

Thanks for the link! I'll put you on in a sec. Back in high school, I joked that Life In The Fast Lane was Pipe In The Vaseline, and my friend thought I was serious. That was fun!

Oh, you betcha. I'm adding links to the super-cool-party-people as I find them.

What about "Flies in the Vaseline"??? Read that quoted in a Wally Lamb book and sing it to this day.

Same song..."Hold me closer, Tony Danza".

Stone Temple Pilots did a song called... Flies in the Vaseline. Well, I think the title was just "Vaseline," but that's sung in the chorus.
